on a TV monitor. Any problem within the ear

Establishing
Expectations
Understanding Hearing Loss
The average person goes ten years with a progressive
hearing loss, slowly withdrawing from social activities
and events they once enjoyed.
Other people may notice your hearing loss more
than you do. In a restaurant or group setting,
background noise can leave you out of conversations;
family and friends adapt by speaking louder or
repeating; and others may exclude you due to prior
frustration communicating with you.
Causes and Symptoms
There are many reasons for loss of hearing, ranging
from heredity to aging, from accidents to excessive
exposure to noise, and even some medications.
Circumstances like these can seem uncontrollable,
and they create much frustration. Your hearing
can be improved through thorough evaluation, proper
fitting and use of technology.
If you find yourself:
- straining to hear in noisy situations,
- unable to participate in conversations due
to background noise,
- struggling to understand voices that don't
seem clear,
- often asking others to repeat themselves,
- blaming others for not speaking clearly,
- hearing but not understanding,
- turning up the volume higher than others…
Now is a great time to take the step toward better
hearing.
Initial Fitting
Process
Once an initial evaluation is completed, we determine
the best options for improved hearing based on
a client's needs, expectations and the products
available to address the hearing loss.
We custom fit each and every hearing aid and follow
a well-planned schedule in order to achieve maximum
results:
- The initial fitting, is always followed by
3 to 4 weekly visits. This is called the acclamation
period during which we can make adjustments
and modifications based on the client's input.
Once you have been wearing the new aids in different
environments, we can make changes to achieve
the best hearing possible.
- Three-month Check-ups: We provide a thorough
cleaning, batteries and a review of your satisfaction.
- 1 Year Follow-up: We ensure product performance,
double check warranty information, offer extended
care programs and conduct an annual hearing
test, making changes to your hearing instrument
as needed.
